Why Echo Cardiography?

Patient Instructions
A regular Echo usually does not require special preparation. However, different types of Echo tests may require the following instructions:
Transthoracic Echocardiography
- You can eat and drink normally before the test
- Take your medications as prescribed before the procedure
Stress Echocardiogram
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
- Avoid taking certain medications before the test as advised by your doctor
Transesophageal Echocardiogram
- Avoid eating for a few hours before the test
- This helps prevent vomiting during the procedure
